It’s always painful… pruning that is. I spent the afternoon with the staff reviewing all the STUFF that we do at NorthStar. Is it accomplishing our mission? Are lives being changed? Are we HELPING people with this, or just giving them something else to do, read, etc…
Whenever you review and critique the decision has to be made… keep it or kill it? Invest more into it, or stop it and reinvest the current resources into something else.
Let me encourage you – always stop something while it is still working. Kill it while it is still alive. Then reallocate the resources into something else and honestly communicate why you are doing it. Kids in too many activities? Stop some of them and direct them more into the activities that will make them better! Money going out to too many things? Stop the flow and redirect the cash to God, your family, your investments.
It’s always a little painful, but the healthy benefits are huge!
