Meet Muggsy Bogues, who at 5’3", was one of (it not THE) shortest NBA players to ever play. But he did. He had a great career.
Doesn’t matter where you came from… how your parents did or didn’t raise you… who treated you fairly or who cheated you out of your eyeteeth. You have a fighting chance.
That’s why one of my favorite scriptures is Phillippians 4:13 – "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
It makes a big difference if I go through life trying to live off of my own strength or God’s. Trying to create my own identity, or accepting who God says I am.
And that’s a daily struggle – to see myself through God’s eyes, instead of Madison Avenue’s, or Glamour magazine’s, or my seminary proffessor’s.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go work on my basketball dunk… 🙂
