Goodbye Steve

Haven’t blogged this week… it was a good break.  A lot of stuff going on.

One sad piece of news was the death of Steve Szoke… a friend and collegue in Crown Point In.  Steve would have turned 33 today, but passed away from an unknown, but very aggressive form of thoraxic cancer this last week.  He has only been sick a short time.  My wife went to school with Steve, and I knew him through ministry connections.

Steve parternered with the CDEA, a church planting ministry in Chicago on whose Executive Board I serve, and planted Impact Christian Church in Crown Point.  He also started FirePro wrestling at the church – Steve came from a wrestling background (think WWE) and used FirePro as a VERY effectice outreach to people most churches wouldn’t even see, let alone attract.

I drove over to Indiana yesterday to take part in his funeral.  He leaves behind a loving wife and daughter, Candy and Jada.  I also serve with his father – Bob Szoke – at the CDEA.  Pray for Steve’s family as they mourn this tremendous loss.

Steve believed this life was simply practice for eternity… and now he is enjoying the Big Show!  Goodbye Steve, and thanks.

  1. Thank you so much for putting this on your blog….we couldn’t find out anything about Steve or his funeral or where to send a sympathy greeting. We did not know Steve but we know Bob, his dad, from CDEA.
