Common Sense, as learned from Paine

“A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom.”

-Thomas Paine in Common Sense

In other words – when it’s wrong, say it’s wrong… or else people will start calling it right.

Politics.  Economics.  Faith.  Parenting.  Law.  Justice.  Equality.  Love.

What area does this not apply to?  I pondered this for quite a while this morning.  How much different would my life be, or our world be, if people had simply lived according to Paine’s maxim over the last fifty or so years?
